Media Testing

RSI can provide a multi-column resin test apparatus (hereafter referred to as a multibed analyzer) for the evaluation of ion exchange resins and absorber media and a technician to conduct the media testing campaign. The multibed analyzer allows for media testing in a configuration paralleling that of the existing radwaste system (i.e., both parallel and series bed configurations). Sample capability is provided for analysis of each individual column. In addition, a flow totalizer is integral to the multibed analyzer to provide for accurate quantification of media life expectancy.

The key to the method is using actual plant waste streams. Experience has shown that surrogate challenges simply cannot replicate actual liquid radwaste process water.

Tests are performed using milliliters of media, thereby preventing generation of hundreds of cubic feet of solid waste when a test media does not operate as expected.
